It is with deep regret that we announce the recent passing of Tom MacFadyen from Process Plus, who was not only a valued colleague to us all at ATi, but also a close friend.
It was a huge shock when Tom passed away in December following a short battle with a rare form of bone cancer and he will be greatly missed by his loving family, friends and colleagues.
Tom was a remarkable person and one of life’s true gentlemen and he was very much a big part of the ATi story and part of our success. It was Scottish Water that initially introduced ATi’s General Manager Mike Strahand to Tom at Process Plus in the early naughties, with a view to getting the best of both worlds ie ATi products via a local supplier.
During the early part of the millennium, Mike and Tom spent many memorable hours together travelling the highlands and islands visiting potential new customers, dealing with installations and providing training courses. From this, a deep friendship developed, with Mike regularly visiting and staying at Tom’s house and attending his wedding.
In the years that Mike knew Tom, he learned that he was not a man who ever moaned – he always found solutions not problems. He was one of the most positive men we have ever met and loved to hear his favourite word whenever we spoke to him…”brilliant”! Over the years, Garry and the rest of the ATi team also became close friends with Tom, which meant lots of fun and laughs during regular social events and golfing trips.
In memory of Tom, the Process Plus team have set up a Just Giving page to help raise funds for Beaston Cancer Charity, following the help and support they showed to Tom and his family. The charity offers specialist help and support for patients and their families, so if anybody would like to make a donation please visit www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Tom-Processplus. Later this year, ATi will also be hosting a charity golf event in Tom’s memory to also raise money for Beaston Cancer Charity.
We would like to send our thoughts and best wishes to Tom’s wife Karen, son Lewis and all his family, friends and colleagues and we will continue to hold our memories close of this extraordinary man.
