As part of our ongoing commitment to customer training, our expert and award winning Service Team recently ran a series of workshops for United Utilities engineers and project managers both here at our Saddleworth Headquarters and out on site, demonstrating how to get the best out of the ATi monitors installed as part of a framework.
The training workshops covered everything United Utilities might need to know, such as how the sensors work (including interferences and contamination), plus commissioning, calibration and maintenance by parameter and concluded with hands-on sessions.
The aim of the workshops was to ensure engineers became more familiar with the ATi equipment, have a better understanding for the technology used, as well as understanding how our instruments work and how to maintain them.
Training Workshops at ATi HQ
The days at our headquarters were split into two parts. The first half of training was conducted by General Manager Mike Strahand, who talked about the theory, application and the sensor technology used by ATi and the second half was taken by our Technical Manager, Chris McTear. Chris went into detail about practical use, including commissioning, servicing and maintenance as well as trouble shooting.
The sessions went through each framework product individually, including chlorine, pH, turbidity, conductivity, ammonia, dissolved oxygen and sludge blanket, and allowed time for Q&A sessions to ensure a thorough understanding.
The second session at ATi’s HQ was also filmed so it can be issued to those already trained for future reference, and for those unable to attend.
ATi have offered free training to UU as part of the framework agreement and UU have also implemented a new training system for their staff to sign up to. Once UU have a minimum group of 8 people requesting training, ATi will hold a workshop.
The external training for UU was carried out by two other members of our service team, Mark Holmes and Michael Newell, on four sites. This training involved site specific monitors that have been installed, including final effluent, waste water ammonia monitors at Settle and Darwen, dissolved H2S at Raby Cote, and also clean water products such as chlorine, turbidity and pH at Loveclough WTW.
We have also started offering training to the D&B contractors as part of this, which will help them, UU, and ATi deliver the projects more effectively.
Everyone who has attended one of our training workshops is issued with a certificate and ATi has received excellent feedback from these sessions so far.
Excellent After Sales and Customer Service
Our time-served, qualified technicians are the best in the industry and our work with other water companies, such as Severn Trent, Yorkshire Water and Thames Water, have demonstrated time and time again the value of training. By improving customer knowledge, maintenance costs are reduced and efficiency of the plants is increased.
